The consolidation warehouse in the Harbin comprehensive bonded zone completed its sorting-area upgrade this month. Sorting space grew from 900 to 1,600 square metres, two loading bays were added, and barcode scanning was introduced for verification.
The immediate cause was peak-season queuing. Client deliveries clustered in the afternoon, and vehicles occasionally had to wait outside the park. With more bays and floor space, average loading and unloading time per vehicle has fallen from about 90 minutes to 50.
Barcode scanning addresses a different problem. Inbound quantities were previously counted by hand and occasionally differed. Each item is now scanned on arrival, clients can see actual stock levels in the system, and the count is verified again before dispatch.
Storage remains zoned by destination and client, and the upgrade added a temporary holding area so clients facing a last-minute order change can store cargo short term without arranging another facility.
