Appliance containers by rail, in time for peak season

Appliance containers by rail, in time for peak season

Background

The client had landed a winter promotion order through a Russian retail channel with a fixed delivery window. Their previous ocean route had become unpredictable in peak season, and while rail looked like the answer, they were concerned about securing origin slots.

Our approach

  1. Split the volume into six weekly batches of seven 40HQ containers, locking block-train slots at both Harbin and Chengdu.
  2. Consolidated cargo at the Harbin bonded warehouse first, sorting and labelling in loading sequence to cut terminal dwell time.
  3. Reviewed declaration documents during consolidation so filing could happen the day the train arrived at the station.
  4. Distributed directly from the Moscow warehouse to three regional warehouses on arrival, removing post-arrival waiting time.

Outcome

Volume shipped
42 × 40HQ
Average transit
22 days
Batch on-time rate
100%
Cost vs. ocean
8% lower

All six batches were in the warehouse ten days before the promotion opened, and the client signed the following year’s Russia rail volume with us.
